A 10-Week collaboration with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams & SCADpro
Reimagining the Working from Home experience
SPRING 2021
I collaborated with 12 other SCAD students researching and developing concepts for the future of home workspaces for Mitchell Gold+ Bob Williams, To later create furniture collections for the brand. I helped with researching, strategizing, and brainstorming, as well as, I focused on designing a chair for one of the three furniture collections we developed. I was also in charge of the renders for the EVA collection and the visuals for our several presentations.
My Role
When designing the chair, I thought a lot about balancing the aesthetics of a chair you would find in the home and an office chair. I also focused on the concept of cocooning or feeling secure and comfortable in your work environment and finding ways to implement comfort and ergonomics seamlessly. I also developed a unique clip-like base that ties nicely with the collection.
The process consisted of research, sketching, 3D modeling, prototyping, and feedback from the professors guiding us and Bob Williams himself. Then, each week, refine ideas and help each other find the right ways to develop each collection piece that would fit the brand’s aesthetics, solve some of the problems people face when working from home, and make each piece manufacturable.
